PERMITS & LICENSING
Geneva's Water Heater Replacement Permit Information sheet (revised 5-1-2026) says you need a building permit before replacing a water heater. Send the application to the Building Division (630-262-0280, pdf@geneva.il.us). Once you pay, the permit is issued at the counter. Give 24 hours' notice when you book an inspection.
The water heater handout doesn't describe a separate city registration. The plumber's letter of intent and state licenses are filed with each permit.
