COSTS & QUOTES

Check the incentive date before counting the savings.

A rebate is useful only if your home, equipment and installation qualify.

Federal credit: check the year

The IRS says the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit covers improvements made through December 31, 2025. Some older ENERGY STAR and manufacturer pages still describe it as current. Do not subtract it from a 2026 installation quote.

Utility and state programs are separate

Check your actual utility provider, service address, income rules, approved models, installer requirements and application deadlines. Funding, reservation requirements and whether offers can be combined vary by program.

Ask for two clear totals

Have the installer show the gross installed price and each potential incentive separately. Establish who applies, who receives the money and what happens if the application is declined.
