PEBBLE CREEK AT A GLANCE

Replacing a water heater in Pebble Creek.

Pebble Creek is unincorporated, so a water heater swap needs a $130 Hillsborough County plumbing permit; Tampa Electric supplies power. In the far north of Hillsborough near the Pasco line, it's one of the few unincorporated suburbs on City of Tampa water, and the county's map shows most homes billed by Tampa directly. It also has an unusually high share of gas-heated homes for north Hillsborough.

Pebble Creek is an unincorporated community in Hillsborough County, so county offices handle permits.

Built around a 1967 golf course, now closed

Pebble Creek grew around Pebble Creek Golf Club, which nine investors opened in 1967 as the oldest course in what became New Tampa. The club closed on July 31, 2021. In July 2023, Hillsborough County commissioners voted 5-2 against rezoning the roughly 150 acres for about 251 homes, and a state appeals court later sided with the county. The community has two HOAs, the Pebble Creek Homeowners Association (more than 1,100 homes) and the roughly 300-home Pebble Creek Village HOA, each with its own rules on outdoor equipment.
