The reviewer said after a home-warranty plumber delayed five days, Butter scheduled the same afternoon and the plumber explained options and replaced the water heater professionally.

A family member said their 88-year-old mother, who has hearing loss, chose a water heater from verbal options, was given a $1,247 estimate, and paid $3,285.90 in total with no itemized invoice or written warranty.
Company reply and outcome: Butter said it offered to switch to an economy heater at $2,555, then issued a $1,285.90 refund, removed its warranties and maintenance services, and ended business with the customer; it said the tank remains under a six-year manufacturer warranty.

The reviewer said Butter charged $69 to look at a tankless circulating pump and the technician verbally offered to replace their new tankless water heater for $5,800 without giving brand, capacity or anything in writing.
