Licensing in Utah

The Utah Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL, Department of Commerce) licenses plumbers statewide as Apprentice, Journeyman, Residential Journeyman, Master and Residential Master Plumber. Businesses doing plumbing work also need a DOPL contractor license.

Water heater replacements generally need a permit from the local city or county building department.

Wattsmart Homes – Heat Pump Water Heater (Utah)

Rocky Mountain Power · Active

$350 customer rebate for a qualified heat pump water heater (all tiers), any tank size; trade ally incentives are also available.

Utah residential customer on rate schedule 1, 2 or 3; existing single-family or manufactured home (not new construction); must replace an electric or gas storage water heater; gas-to-HPWH conversions must be installed by a program-participating contractor, while electric replacements can be self-installed; apply within 180 days.

ThermWise Appliance Rebates – Water Heating

Enbridge Gas (ThermWise) · Active

$100 for an ENERGY STAR gas storage water heater, $300 for an ENERGY STAR gas tankless, $350 for an ENERGY STAR condensing gas storage or a hybrid gas water heater (0.90 TE/EF or higher), $750 for a combined space/water heater (over 95% AFUE), and $50 for a smart water heater controller.

Enbridge Gas Utah customer; apply within 6 months of purchase; up to two of each measure per dwelling.
