PERMITS & LICENSING
Permits and licenses in Darien.
Permits and who issues them
Darien's code says no plumbing system may be altered or repaired without a permit. You apply, pay and schedule inspections through its OpenGov portal. But its permit pages don't name water heater replacement, and 'normal repair and maintenance' is on its no-permit list. Confirm with Community Development.
All contractors register with Community Development through OpenGov. Plumbing contractors only submit their state license and pay no fee; general contractors pay $60 a year. Licenses expire at the end of April.
