BBB complaint
Customer name withheld · 01/13/2026
A home-warranty member said their 40-gallon water heater ruptured and A.B. May's quote left $2,548.46 out of pocket after a $2,000 plan credit and member discount, and that another company did the full job for under $2,000. They praised the technician but said they would cancel the plan.
Company reply and outcome: A.B. May said it responded within 24 hours, that the estimate included a pressure-reducing valve because house water pressure measured 90 PSI, and that a manager explained the pricing and plan coverage. BBB lists the complaint as Answered.

The customer said they were charged $2,150 to install a $150 point-of-use tankless water heater under a kitchen sink after going 10 days without hot water there, and that members are charged $75 for an equipment estimate.
Ask before booking: Can you give me a written, itemized water heater quote (unit, labor, code upgrades such as expansion tank or PRV), and exactly how much of it my membership covers, before any work starts?
