BBB complaints allege a $1,703.42 double charge (Reliant said a refund had been issued), an unfinished tankless job (answered, not resolved), an unconsented $213 membership (unanswered) and a faulty tankless install that ended in a $2,500 refund (resolved). Yelp reviewers questioned quotes of $670 for a drain valve and $3,400–$6,800 for a new heater. A September 2026 Yelp reviewer alleged a cheaper unit was installed than the one contracted; no response was visible.

The customer said a water heater replacement was charged in full to a credit card after half had already been charged to a debit card, an overcharge of $1,703.42, and that the promised refund had not arrived three weeks later.

Company reply and outcome: On 12/17/2025 Reliant apologized and said its records showed a refund had already been issued, and that it was investigating further.

The customer said a Rinnai tankless installation was left unfinished. Items listed as undone were capping the old gas line, pipe insulation, relocating the condensate drain, supporting the gas line, the catch pan, and the permit and inspection.
