What the reviews say
Water heater replacement & service
Reviewers praised a quick flame-sensor fix billed as just the service call, clear explanation of error codes, and phone advice that avoided an upsell.
A Chicago Yelp reviewer (2022) said they were charged a $170 trip fee plus $70 per 30 minutes, with time counted from the technician's GPS arrival while they were not yet home; other reviewers on the listing, not all local, also described service charges they felt were high.

Selected reviews · Checked September 30, 2026. Three Yelp reviews (2021-2023) from Chicago-area reviewers on the Arlington Heights listing; the company does manufacturer warranty work in several states, so out-of-state reviews on the same listing were excluded. BBB and Angi were not checked in detail. Small sample.
Yelp review
Dennis H. · Aug 8, 2023
The reviewer said technicians cleaned the flame sensor on an A.O. Smith heater that was shutting off with an error code, explained the codes, and charged only the service call.
Company reply and outcome: The business manager thanked the reviewer.
Yelp review
Steve A. · Jun 22, 2021
The reviewer said staff at the Arlington Heights location talked through their water heater concern by phone, explained some maintenance, and told them to monitor it rather than booking a visit.
Yelp review
Jake V. · May 5, 2022
The reviewer said the technician was helpful, but they were billed $170 to come out plus $70 per 30 minutes, with time counted from the technician's GPS arrival while they were not yet home, and the office would not adjust it.
Ask before booking: Ask how the visit is billed (trip fee, per-30-minute rate, card fees) and whether warranty calls can still carry a service charge.
